In a land long known for its apple orchards, one family dared to reimagine Prespa’s potential. Our roots go deep – one of our vineyards is between 60 and 80 years old – a living reminder that before apples, Prespa thrived with vineyards.
Founded in 2022 by brothers Aleksandar and Stojanče Dimovski, Alesto Winery bridges forgotten tradition with the vibrancy of the new world. Our name, Alesto, is born from the first letters of our names, a symbol of unity, family, and vision.
From the very beginning, our mission has been simple yet profound:
To create exceptional wines that capture the soul of Prespa’s unique terroir.
Every drop we produce is a reflection of our land’s character – shaped by 900m altitude, a rare meeting of continental and Mediterranean climates, and a constant gentle wind. The soils here – a blend of sand and rich red earth – combined with the mirror-like reflection of Lake Prespa, give our wines remarkable freshness, herbal notes, and depth of flavor.
We honor traditional winemaking techniques while embracing modern innovation, letting nature lead the way. Minimal intervention, deep respect for the vineyard, and an artisanal approach are at the heart of our philosophy.
LUX – Light in Latin – our first label, inspired by the saying “there is always light at the end of the tunnel.” A wine born from resilience and hope.
LACUS – Representing Lake Prespa, the lifeblood of our region and the largest source feeding Lake Ohrid. A symbol of purity and abundance.
PELA – Honoring the first capital of Tsar Samuel, connecting every sip with centuries of history and power.
BUCEPHALUS – Our Vranec. Named after Alexander the Great’s legendary horse – bold, persistent, and noble.
AMARE – Love in Latin – the secret ingredient in all we do, bottled for you to taste, feel, and remember.
Our wines are carefully crafted in small batches, allowing the character of each grape variety to shine. Expect layers of intense fruit, balanced acidity, elegant tannins, and aromatic complexity – a true expression of Prespa in your glass.

Wine Tourism – More Than a Tasting
We are committed to preserving the unique ecosystem of Prespa. From sourcing all food pairings for our tastings from local farmers to practicing mindful vineyard care, sustainability is in our DNA.
Our work supports not just our family but also our community – creating opportunities for local producers, promoting wine tourism, and bringing global attention to the beauty and heritage of Prespa.
Prespa has the potential to become a wine destination on par with the best in the Balkans.
